MODALS - CAN AND MUST

MODAL  VERBS
What are modals?
  • They are special verbs which behave differently from normal verbs.
What are the differences?
  • Firstly, we do not use ''s'' in the third person (e.g. She can cook. He must go now.)
  • Secondly, we use ''not'' to make modal verbs negative (e.g. You should not eat it!)
  • Thirdly, we do not use modals in the past tenses or the future tenses (e.g. They will can stay at home)
What modal verbs are there?
Can           Could           May        Might       Must          Shall       Should       Ought to   Will    Would
